Haille's school has a special performance choir for 4th & 5th graders - All That Jazz. If you want to be in this choir, you have to try-out, singing in front of your peers & the director. Lo and behold, Haille made it! The choir practices twice a week, after school, and the kids need to be picked up at 5:00. Problem is, I don't get off work until 5:00, and I could not leave work early twice a week for the entire school year, not to mention I already leave early every other Friday to pick her up from Girl Scouts. My boss wouldn't be too thrilled. I explained this to Haille, and she was disappointed, but understood that she couldn't participate. The next day at work, I get a call from the director BEGGING me to let Haille be in this choir, as Haille "is one of my strongest voices". So I promised the director I would try to work something out, but I couldn't guarantee anything. It is a big commitment all year, and the kids even have to sign "contracts" that they couldn't miss more than 3 practices/performances. They also compete in a competition down in Gatlinburg, TN in the spring. Last year, they received more awards than the Perry Meridian High School choir!! So I knew Haille would thoroughly enjoy being a part of this. I was torn about what to do. Turns out, Melissa's son (babysitter) also made the choir, and she said she would take care of picking Haille up after practice!! I was so relieved, and Haille was ecstatic!! Don't know what I would do without Melissa!!!
Haille has to dance with a boy, and she was so nervous about telling Jason!! He jokingly acted mad & said "WHO IS HE?!?" and she she said "I have to!! I signed a contract!!!" So we tease her about it.
Here is their Christmas performance. They really did an excellent job!! Haille is 2nd from the top, in the middle.
