IT'S OFFICIAL

Axten has asthma. I finally talked his pediatrician into referring us to a specialist to see why Axten has breathing trouble. He needed breathing treatments often. I knew he had asthma, however, his doctor insisted he would grow out of it. He's a good doctor - but kind of old fashioned. I was getting quite frusterated, because I didn't want to wait for him to grow out of it, as I know what it feels like to not be able to breathe (I had asthma as a kid). It broke my heart to see Axten gasping for air, and coughing to try & open his lungs. Poor kid was suffering.

So here is Dr. Stevens, at Riley Children's Hospital. (Picture courtesy of Axten!!)
We spent a few hours at Riley running tests, getting x-rays, and I feel so relieved that he's finally being treated correctly. So until his next appointment - in 3 months - he will get two doses of an inhaler, twice a day, everyday, even when his breathing is okay. An inhaler is much easier than a breathing treatment, too!!
