KINDA TRAUMATIC...

Friday morning, I get a call around 8:50 in the morning from Melissa, my babysitter. She tells me when she was taking the kids to school, there were countless police cars surrounding the school, and the cops were kneeling down, with their weapons pulled and pointed into the woods behind the school. One police officer stopped her and said she could not leave the kids at school, and that she had to take them back home. He wouldn't tell her anything else. I immediately get on the news website to find that the bank just a block away from the school was held up by an armed robber, and he was still on the loose in the area. Whoa. At this point, I am now thankful for that new sewer project which has kept the roads tore up by Melissa's house, so the bus couldn't drive down the street to pick up the kids. Just for the week, the kids would be "car riders" until the street is put back together. Usually, I cursed under my breath for the inconvenience of these road blocks, but not today!! If they had been on the bus, they would have been re-directed to Perry Meridian Middle school for a fun day of sitting in the cafeteria. Haille was in tears, Trentin wasn't really phased at all. As Melissa described, it was a scene straight out of a movie. Periodically throughout the day, I kept tabs from the news website, that the robber was still at large, and hiding in the woods directly behind the school, literally just a few yards away from the playground. Eventually, he would trade gunshots with the police officers, and they found him dead. When I picked up the kids, they were eager to tell me about what happened, and we glued ourselves to the news that evening. Haille and Trentin both agreed "I'm glad he's dead." NO NO NO... I say. Time for a talk. I explain to them that even though he did a terrible thing, it is very tragic, and no one will know why he made the choice to rob a bank. He could be someone's son, husband, friend, uncle, even dad, and we never want to be thankful someone lost their life. I explained that he made a horrible mistake, and if he would have made the right choice, he would be alive today. In jail, but alive. Basically, they got a lesson about consequences for choices people make. They did understand, so their fright turned into excitement to see their school mentioned on TV. Here's the news link ..... http://www.wthr.com/Global/category.asp?C=136236&clipId=4728583&topVideoCatNo=136234&autoStart=true

I do hope, though, the teachers will talk to the kids today, to reassure them that the school is safe, and they are in no danger at all. I imagine some of the kids will be reluctant to play on the playground, if they even let the kids outside today.

AT THE BALL PARK!!

2010 BASEBALL SEASON!!

Trentin is on the Red Sox this year! We have an on-going bet... if he catches a pop fly in the outfield, I will either take him to Incredible Pizza (his favorite place) or buy him a new DS game. So he is trying really hard!! He does get frusterated when he doesn't catch one, but I told him he has quite a few more games to play, and we just have to keep practicing!!

2010 SOFTBALL SEASON!!

Haille is on the Cubs this year, and doing very well! She's just a natural at softball, and I'm so glad she enjoys playing. When Axten gets alittle older, I would love to start coaching one of her teams. I really miss playing, and watching her reminds me of how much fun I used to have!!

She cracks me up when she gets up to bat.... she always does this little twirl with the bat before she swings, and I think it's so cute!! So she does it on purpose because she knows it makes me laugh.

HAPPY EASTER!!

This year the silly Easter bunny hid the kids' Easter baskets outside! But Trentin woke up before everyone else, as usual, and found the baskets for Haille and Axten. I don't even know what time he woke up, but it was early!!

This girl LOOOVVES Taylor Lautner!!
Trentin is really into the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books these days. I do recommend seeing the movie, it was really good!!

When everyone got out of church, they came over to our house!! We had a fun Easter egg hunt. It was a gorgeous day!!

COLORING EGGS!

Kaydance, Kyndall and Grandma came over to color Easter eggs! Or "Schmeggs" as Trentin kept calling them. Finally Kaydance said what I was thinking.... (to Trentin) "Quit calling them schmeggs! They're EGGS!!"

SPRING BREAK!!

On the last day of Spring Break, we went to Incredible Pizza!

That can't be comfortable. Hmmmm.... What should I do? Move him & risk waking him up which he might not fall back asleep again? Nah, I'll just leave him right there and enjoy alittle quiet time!!
My precious baby boy!!

MUSIC FESTIVAL

From each elementary school in Perry Township, a handful of students from grades 3 - 5 are picked to participate in the township's music festival, and Haille was one of them!! I am very proud of her!!
The festival was held in Southport High School's fieldhouse, and that place was insanely crowded!! Standing room only. I did not get a good picture of her performing, as we were at the very top of the gym, but they sounded great.

Axten held his hand over his heart for the Star Spangled Banner. It was too cute!!

My favorite song Haille sings is done in sign language. It's such a pretty song, and whenever I ask her to sing it for me (which is pretty often) she happily obliges!

GREAT TIME AT GREATTIMES!!

Give the kids one choice on a place they want to go to have some fun.... they will say Great Times without any hesitation. I do have to admit, that Deal or No Deal game can be very addicting!!

Even the big boys had fun!!

HANGING OUT WITH UNCLE CHRIS!

Before Uncle Chris had to go home, we invited everyone over to hang out with him for awhile. We really miss Uncle Chris, and cannot wait for him to come back to visit!!

Playing games with Grandma!!

BASKETBALL SEASON IS OVER!!

Haille's basketball season has come to an end. She had a great season!!

TRENTIN'S 2ND GRADE PROGRAM

The 2nd graders put on a patriotic performance for all parents & grandparents. They did an amazing job!! You might recall, last year during Haille's 2nd grade program, she got to play the chimes. This year, Trentin did too! Afterwards, we got to visit their classrooms, and see all the projects they've been working on this past year.

I'm so pround of you, Trentin!!
